Y10 Parents Information Evening

Year 10 is an important transition point in a young person’s education. Students are now entering the GCSE phase of their education, and the choices, habits and attitudes they develop over the next two years will have a significant impact on their future success. As a school, we have high expectations of our students and will continue to challenge them to be the very best versions of themselves; academically, socially and personally.

We recognise that the transition into KS4 can also raise questions for parents and carers. With this in mind, I am pleased to invite you to our:

Wednesday 23rd September
5:00pm – 6:00pm

This evening will provide an opportunity for parents and carers to find out more about what KS4 will bring and how we can work together to support students through this important stage of their education.

During the evening, we will explore:

• What KS4 means and what students can expect over the next two years.
• Expectations for Year 10 students, including attendance, punctuality, behaviour, effort and independent study.
• The GCSE journey and what students should expect as they progress towards their examinations.
• How parents and carers can support their child with organisation, revision, homework, attendance and maintaining positive routines.
• How the school will support students, including academic progress, pastoral support, careers guidance and preparation for their next steps.
• The importance of high expectations, resilience, independence and taking responsibility for learning.
• Key information about GCSE assessment and preparation and how we will help students to make sustained progress.

The partnership between school, students and families is incredibly important. We want our Year 10 students to feel ambitious about their future and understand that success at KS4 is built through consistent effort, positive choices, excellent attendance and a willingness to learn from mistakes.
