With over 18 years of experience in education, Mrs Sofianos is proud to serve as Head of Academy at Harris Riverside, responsible for the strategic leadership and culture of the school. Her career spans work as an Advanced Skills Teacher and senior leadership roles as Assistant and Vice Principal before stepping into headship. Throughout this journey, her commitment has remained constant: ensuring every child receives an education that opens doors and transforms life chances.
Mrs Sofianos believes education should enable students to leave school with the grades, confidence and character they need to pursue whatever future they choose. By raising aspirations and breaking down barriers, schools play a vital role in widening opportunity. Alongside strong academic outcomes, she is equally committed to developing well‑rounded, grounded young people who are kind, respectful and able to engage positively with others from all backgrounds.
Mrs Sofianos takes a coaching‑led, people‑centred approach and believes that clarity creates confidence. She focuses on turning strategic thinking into purposeful action, supporting staff and students to grow, develop and succeed.
Despite the demands of leadership, Mrs Sofianos remains firmly rooted in the classroom. She is a graduate of Trinity College of Music, a specialist conservatoire in London renowned for professional‑level musical training, and continues to teach because she values the unique way music engages students. Through music, she sees young people connect learning with creativity and emotion, allowing them to express themselves more fully. These moments reaffirm her belief in the power of education to shape not only outcomes, but people.
Mrs Sofianos is proud to lead a school community built on ambition, integrity and kindness, where both students and staff are supported to thrive.
