Parents/Carers Toolkit
Parents/Carers Toolkit
We know that children begin noticing differences from a very young age. As they grow, they start forming ideas about who they are and how they relate to others. That’s why it’s so important that we work together as a school and families to guide them with care, clarity and compassion.
Supporting children to develop a confident sense of self, while learning to respect and celebrate the identities of others, is a shared responsibility. It’s not always easy but it matters deeply.
We understand that conversations around identity, diversity and inclusion can feel complex. To support you, we recommend the toolkit in the link below. It is designed to empower parents/carers in guiding their child through the complexities of identity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, helping them to understand and feel confident in their own identities as well as having compassion for the identities around them.
The toolkit includes:
- Practical guidance for talking about identity and belonging
- Resources to help challenge stereotypes and promote inclusion
- Case studies from schools working to build inclusive cultures
- Questionnaires and audit tools to reflect on your own environment
Topics Covered Include:
- Autism and neurodiversity
- Gender identity and challenging stereotypes
- Raising children in multicultural families
- Building resilience and emotional wellbeing
- Supporting transgender teens and families in transition
- Fostering cultural awareness and inclusive thinking
