Our Vision
Our Vision
At HARI Academy, we believe that every member of our community deserves to feel respected, safe, and valued. We recognise that inequality and discrimination exist in wider society, and we are committed to actively challenging these injustices within our school.
Our vision is to foster a culture of belonging, where all identities are welcomed, understood, and celebrated. We know that our differences, whether in race, gender, sexuality, ability, religion, or background, are sources of strength and connection. We strive to ensure that every student and staff member feels seen, heard, and empowered to be themselves.
We use education as a powerful tool to raise awareness, promote understanding, and drive positive change. We encourage open, respectful dialogue and create psychologically safe spaces where individuals can speak up, share experiences, and contribute to shaping an inclusive school environment.
How We Bring Our Vision to Life
- Build shared understanding of key EDI concepts and inclusive language, enabling courageous conversations and collective responsibility.
- Challenge discriminatory language and behaviour, including casual or coded expressions that exclude or harm others. We do not tolerate racist, homophobic, sexist, or ableist language in any form.
- Avoid stereotypes and assumptions, especially around gender, race, and identity. We use inclusive, gender-neutral language and challenge outdated norms.
- Create safe spaces for discussion, where intelligent debate is encouraged without generalisation, stereotyping, or microaggressions.
- Hold ourselves and each other accountable, addressing inappropriate language or behaviour even when it’s framed as humour or banter.
- Model inclusive behaviours, showing what it means to be an ally and to stand up for others with kindness and integrity.
- Respond to discrimination through education, helping students and staff understand why certain beliefs or phrases may be harmful, and guiding them toward more inclusive thinking.
- Reflect on our own privilege and biases, taking ownership of mistakes and engaging in ongoing learning to grow as individuals and as a community.
We are proud to be a school where Sharp Minds, Kind Hearts, and Bright Futures are not just words but a lived reality for everyone.
