Clubs and enrichment activities
The academy believes in enriching the lives and therefore the learning of every student at the academy. The academy therefore provides a huge range of activities outside timetabled lessons. These occur before, during and after the academy day.
Every member of teaching staff and many of our support staff offers a club which enriches the lives of our students.
Attendance at clubs is enthusiastically encouraged for at least one hour per week but many of our students will spend far more time at clubs than that. The academy tracks attendance at clubs as part of our commitment to ensure that each student participates widely in enrichment and social activities.
Our clubs timetable is available below. Parents and carers are advised that the timetable may change frequently due to changes in popularity, the seasons or to further opportunities arising.
Parents should be aware that the academy takes a register of attendance at clubs but also that the academy will not routinely liaise with parents about which clubs students participate in or when they attend. Students are encouraged to advise and maintain suitable communicaton with parents and carers about this independently.
From time to time we review our clubs offer if we see that some students are not taking part so that we can make sure we fit in with students' particular transport limits or so that we cater for all tastes.
The acdemy employs coaches who encourage and supervise students playing informal basketball, football, netball and table tennis during break and lunch.
The academy publishes an 'experience planner' so that parents and carers can choose and plan for upcoming trips.
