Drama

The content of the Drama curriculum at Harris Academy Riverside has been developed to engage and compliment other art forms such as Music and Art. The curriculum content includes the application of Drama theory, how to devise and create a performance using influence from practitioners from the past and present day and how to create performance work to emote a response for different aged audiences. Students also learn how to use drama technology such as lighting sound and costume design to enhance moral messages within their performance work.  

Content is sequenced within the subject to allow students to build on their core knowledge and basic drama theory offering students a number of opportunities to develop at every stage of the academic year their understanding of the three key areas of drama; planning, performing and evaluating .  

The Drama curriculum content has also been arranged to reinforce other related subject areas such as English, History, Mathematics, PSHE, Art and Music which have similar themes and ideas.

In so doing, it is expected that students will develop a passion for the study of drama and an ability to have a broader view  of drama, critically comment and express themselves in a positive way.
