Transport to and from the academy
Alternatives to public transport to the academy
The academy is approaching approved transport providers in order to see what can be done to provide a cost effective transport arrangement as an alternative to public transport for students who need to travel from Purfleet to Chafford Hundred.
The academy will not be able to pay the cost of this transport; parents or carers will therefore have to pay towards the cost of the transport should a scheme take place.
There is no guarantee that we will be able to negotiate an arrangement which is cost effective in comparison to pubic transport.
Public Transport options
Ensign buses run a service (route 44) which leaves three stops in Purfleet; Uplands Estate, Garrison Estate and Purfleet Station and arrives at Mill Lane in West Thurrock (a 100 yard walk up Mill Lane to the academy.) The bus journey takes around ten minutes.
(Alternatively the 44 service can be taken from the same stops in Purfleet arriving in the Lakeside shopping centre bus station after around ten minutes. Students can walk across the footbridge to the academy - around a ten minute walk.)
We are advised that the cost of a one month pass is around £26 although parents are advised to check with Ensign.
Financial Assistance with Transport
Parents or carers may be able to apply for some financial assistance with travel costs. Please refer to Thurrock Council website.
Parents or carers may wish to use the form below and submit it to Thurrock Council. The academy cannot advise on whether assistance is likely to be granted.
